Social Work / CHERISH
Our specially-trained providers work with foster caregivers to support the attachment and social-emotional needs of their foster children.
For newborns and young children in foster care, very few therapy options exist for them and their caregivers. CHERISH™ (Children Encouraged by Relationships in Secure Homes), a program developed by our partners at Kindering, is an Early Support infant mental health home-visiting service for foster children ages 0-3. Children's Therapy Center is one of seven sites in King County offering this opportunity for foster children and families.
The CHERISH™ program helps children and their caregivers create secure attachment relationships. A secure attachment to a primary caregiver is the biggest predictor of long-term social and emotional well-being.
Our specially-trained therapists work with caregivers and children to encourage bonding, create an attachment relationship, and ultimately develop attachment capabilities for the child that will transfer to all relationships over the child's lifetime.
Appointments for CHERISH™ evaluations are made by referral only. Please contact us at 253-216-0809 for more information.
each year we help over 3,000 kids
In partnership with parents and caregivers, we celebrate where each child is today and work toward who they can become.
