Children’s Therapy Center, Washington’s largest and most comprehensive nonprofit pediatric therapy program for children with special needs, is pleased to announce the opening of its new Early Intervention center for ages birth to three in the community of Maple Valley. A grand opening celebration will take place September 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
CEO Barry Gourley will commemorate the celebration with special remarks at 11 a.m., followed by light refreshments and an opportunity to meet program staff and view the center’s classroom, therapy tools, evaluation room, and motor skills room. Children are welcome and an activity will be provided.
The center is Children’s Therapy Center’s fourth location in addition to Kent, Tacoma and Burien. The Early Intervention program helps young children with special needs reach developmental milestones, achieve school readiness and reduce their need for special education in the future.
“The Maple Valley and Black Diamond community is one of the fastest-growing areas in Washington,” says Gourley. “We know that more growth means more children in need of Early Intervention services. Our expansion into Maple Valley is our way of saying, ‘We’re here to meet that need for the community.’”
In spite of the growth in the community, says Gourley, “Early Intervention services remain scarce and difficult to access. The closest is our Kent location, which is 13 miles from Maple Valley and 20 miles from Enumclaw. Since all our Early Intervention services are delivered in the home, that means more time on the road for our therapists and less time meeting with families. Having a home base in Maple Valley allows us to provide services more efficiently as well as reduce the transportation woes of families having to drive great distances for evaluations.”
Children’s Therapy Center is in need of corporate sponsors and donors to shorten the 1,000 child waiting list. If you are interested in hearing more about this giving opportunity please contact our Chief Development Officer Steve Wright.

The address of the new location is 29020 216th Ave SE, Black Diamond WA 98010.
