Name: Amelia
Role: Program Support Volunteer
Year with CTC: 3 years
Since joining our team in July of 2018, Amelia has volunteered her time assisting in our Fitness Center and Social Skills groups and helping with special projects.
As a recent graduate from the University of Pittsburg at Greensburg, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology, Amelia is well on her way to reaching her goal of becoming a physical therapist. Amelia’s strong teamwork skills (many years of playing on a soccer team) and her ability to take initiative reflect in her volunteer work. She is always patient with the kiddos and does a wonderful job providing support during a challenging time. She knows how to encourage children to push a little further to work together and reach their goals. We are so happy to have you on the CTC Volunteer Team. Thank you for sharing your time with us, Amelia!
Tell us some fun facts about yourself.
I enjoy playing soccer, reading, and going to festivals. I also have a passion for going on night drives and having a karaoke party in the car. I have two siblings, one older sister who I admire and learn from, and one younger brother who I try to role model for. I have two Rottweilers that are really my babies, Rocco and Zayla. They always put a smile on my face no matter what. I am not sure if I have any special talents just yet, but there is still time to discover one.
Why do you choose to volunteer with CTC? If you could encourage someone else to volunteer at CTC, what would you say?
I chose to volunteer with CTC because of the very inviting and positive first impression that both the staff and website gave me. My dream is to become a physical therapist and I was looking for unique places where I could get hours to see various approaches to different types of therapy. The overall atmosphere at CTC is always positive and inviting. I never once felt awkward or in the way when volunteering in person. Each staff member not only gave me insight into the activities we were doing, but also built a connection with me as well.
To encourage someone else to volunteer at CTC, I would say, “CTC is the best place to learn not only about different therapy techniques, but also a wonderful way to help contribute to your community. Never will you ever feel as though you are a volunteer, but instead a significant part of CTC and their success.”
